Friends and Acquitance

There is a difference between being an acquaintance and being a friend. An acquaintance is someone whose name you know, who you see every now and then, who you probably have something in common with and who you feel comfortable around.

It's a person that you can invite to your home and share things with. But they are people who you don't share your life with, whose actions sometimes you don't understand because you don't know enough about them.

On the other hand, a friend is someone you love. Not that you are "in love" with them, but you care about them and you think about them when they are not there. The people you are reminded of when you see something they might like, and you know this because you know them so well. They are the people whose pictures you have and whose faces are in your head regardless.

Friends are the people you feel safe around because you know they care about you. They call just to see how you are doing, because a friend doesn't need an excuse. They tell you the truth, the first time, and you do the same. You know that if you have a problem, they are there to listen.

Friends are the people who won't laugh at you or hurt you, and if they do hurt you they try hard to make it up to you. They are the people you love, regardless of whether you realize it.

Friends are the people you cried with when you got rejected from colleges and during the last song at the prom and at graduation. They are the people that when you hug them, you don't think about how long to hug and who's going to be the first one to let go.

Maybe they are the people that hold the rings at your wedding, or maybe they are the people who give you away at your wedding, or maybe they are the people you marry. Maybe they are the people who cry at your wedding because they are happy or because they are proud.

They are the people who stop you from making mistakes and help you when you do. They are are the people whose hand you can hold, or you can hug or give them a kiss and not have it be awkward because they understand the things you do and they love you for them.

They stick with you and stand by you. They hold your hand. They watch you live and you watch them live and you learn from them. Your life is not the same without them.

Bumps and Bruises

"Life is full of bumps and bruises. It's what you learn from it and what you do with it that makes you who you are."

I was reading this article in Glamour magazine and it was about these five women who overcame deadly situations and got on with their lives. These women went through a double lung transplant, an open heart surgery and then gave birth to twins, a cancer survivor, a deadly bacterial infection, and one of the women, who was still at their middle age like us, survived knife wounds that most people wouldn't survive.

This article got me thinking about how people go about their lives. Life is not a smooth ride. Some people, when they hit a bump, give up and turn around while others find ways to go over the bump or around the bump. I believe that everyone should do the latter and be like these five women and find ways to get around these bumps.

So when you reach a bump on the road called life, don't give up because you're not the only person to ever reach that particular bump and you're not the last. Be an example for your followers!!!!

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Believe In Yourself

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be.

That's when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.

But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.

So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.

Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Keep Believing in Yourself.

Things We Can Learn From A Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Be loyal.

Run, romp and play daily.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps and stretch before rising.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.

You Are Worthy

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.

Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future.
By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love;
The fastest way to lose love is too hold it too tightly;
In addition, the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Do not dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope;
To be without hope is to be without purpose.

Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

The Value Of Smile

The value of a smile is priceless, yet it is the cheapest, easiest, most rewarding and most sincere gift to anyone that crosses your path. A smile makes a person's day, anybody's day even a stranger's day. A smile is infectious. Start infecting people with your smile today.

A smile is nature's best antidote for discouragement. It brings rest to the weary, sunshine to those who are sad, and hope to those who are hopeless and defeated.

A smile is so valuable that it can't be bought, begged, borrowed, or taken away against your will. You have to be willing to give a smile away before it can do anyone else any good.

So if someone is too tired or grumpy to flash you a smile, let him have one of yours anyway. Nobody needs a smile as much as the person who has none to give.

Power Of Words

A group of frogs were traveling the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frog kept telling them to stop, that theye were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just died. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:

1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.

The power of words ... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times.

Control Of Your Heart

A wise and understanding heart does not repay a hurt with a hurt. In doing so, the heart is diminished. Fissures form. Love leaks out. Every pain given in return for one received, changes the contents of the heart. It is no longer defined by love, wisdom and understanding. It is redefined by the bearers of hurt and hate, pain and prejudice, meanness and madness, sorrow and sadness. You give away control of your very own heart.

The despair of being hurt is healed by overcoming it, not clinging to the hurt and inflicting more of it on the world. When darkness is added to darkness, no one can see, no one can love. Everyone loses.

Love is not always warm and fuzzy. Sometimes it's the integrity we hold on to when we're tempted to strike back. Sometimes it's the honor that keeps us from exchanging the valuable contents of our heart for the harsh satisfaction of lashing back.

No, the way of love is not always easy, but when night falls, dawn is assured.

The integrity and honor of a wise and understanding heart, rises with the sun of a new day.

"Because you have asked for understanding to discern judgment. I have given you a wise and understanding heart." 1 Kings 3:11-12

Living in love and loving life.

The Greatest Love Of All

This is a true story that happened in Japan. In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tear open the wall.

Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.

When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stucked there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet.

He sees this, feels pity and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.

What happened? The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!?!! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind boggling.

Then he wondered, how this lizard survived for 10 years without moving a single step - since its feet was nailed!

So, he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what has it been doing and what has it been eating? Later, don't know from where appears another lizard, with food in its mouth... AHHH!

He was stunned and touched deeply. For the lizard that was stucked by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...

Such a love, such a beautiful love!! Such love happened even on this tiny creature. What can love do? It can do wonders!! Love can do miracles!!

Imagine it has been doing it for a tiredsome 10 yrs, without giving up hope on its partner. Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with the brilliant mind can't.

I am touched when I heard this story. And started wondering the relationship between them: family, friends, lovers, brothers, sisters...... As the technology advances, our access to information become faster and faster. But the distance between human beings, was it getting closer as well? NEVER ABANDON YOUR LOVED ONES.

The Ring

This is a nice piece to reflect on..

Why wedding ring should be placed on the fourth finger?

Thumb represents parents
Second finger represents brothers & sisters
Center finger represents own self
Fourth finger represents your partner
Last finger represents your children
Really interesting

Why wedding ring should be placed on the fourth finger??
Pls read the following.

Firstly, join your palms as shown in photo below, center finger bend and
put together back to back.

Secondly, let the rest of the 4 fingers touch tips to tip.

Game begins, follow the instructions below for all the 5 fingers but only 1
pair can split.

Try to open your thumb, the thumb represents parents, it can be opened
because all human being do go thru sickness and death. Whoever may be, our
parents will leave us one day.

Please close up your thumb, Then open your second finger, this finger
represents brothers and sisters, they do have their own family which is the
reason that they will leave us too. Now close up your second finger,
Open up your little finger, this represents your children. Sooner or later
they too will leave us for they got they own living to live nevertheless,
close up your little finger,

Try to open your fourth finger in which we put our wedding ring; you will
be surprised to find that it cannot be opened at all. Because it represents
husband and wife, this whole life you will be attached to each other

Real love will stick together, forever and ever. . .

Be Grateful

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Don't go for looks, they can deceive. Don't go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trails to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to bring you joy.

Always put yourself in another shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person too.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't get on well in life until you let go of the past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Never Lose Hope

If you can look at the sunset and smile,
then you still have hope.

If you can see the good in other people,
then you still have hope.

If the sight of the rainbow still makes you stop and stare in wonder,
then you still have hope.

If you meet new people with a trace of excitement and optimism,
then you still have hope.

If you give people the benefit of the doubt,
then you still have hope.

If you still offer your hand for friendship to others that have touched your life,
then you still have hope.

If you look forward to a time or place of quiet and reflection,
then you still have hope.

If you can look to the past and smile,
then you still have hope.

HOPE is such a marvelous thing,
It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides,
but rarely does it break.

It sustains us when nothing else can.
It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead,
when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.

HOPE puts a smile on our face
when the heart cannot manage.

HOPE puts our feet on the path
when our eyes cannot see it.

HOPE moves us to act,
when our souls are confused of the direction.

HOPE is a wonderful thing,]
something to be cherished and nurtured,
and something that will refresh us in return.

And it can be found in each of us,
and it can bring light into the darkest of places.
NEVER LOSE HOPE!

HAVE FAITH

Faith is the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase

Faith is believing in something you can’t see or hear, something deep inside that only you understand and only you control.

Faith is trusting in yourself enough to know that no matter how things turn out, you will make the best out of them.

Faith is something that you cannot demand or command, it is a result of commitment to belief.

When you believe in your ability to fulfill your wishes

Never doubt your abilities

Never question your judgments

Never think that any part of you is lacking

Never lose faith in yourself

And you will exceed your own expectation and duty will bring a sense of purpose.

Happy Mother's Day

A mother's love is one of a kind. It begins before her child is born and continues for a lifetime and beyond. The bond we share with her is the first and, in many ways, the most important relationship we will ever experience with anyone. She is the foundation of life and family. We have the beginning with her; nurtured by the warmth of her caring, we thrive and grow in the knowledge that there is someone who loves us unconditionally. Whatever our age or place in her life, her voice is the one we want to hear when we face difficult decisions. When we need comforting, a part of us always longs to run back into the security of her loving embrace. When something wonderful happens, the first person we want to share it with ... is Mom.

Through the years, a mother's heart becomes like a photo album, capturing all the "firsts" in our lives - from our very first smile, first tooth, and first step to all of the major and minor milestones we experience on our way to becoming independent adults. In her eyes, everything that we do is special and unique; she can make even the smallest events seem like great achievements. Whether it's a spelling test that received a gold star, a construction-paper valentine, or a work of art that decorated her refrigerator, she holds on to vacations, holidays, and birthdays that she could always somehow transform into a perfect occasion. Most of all, she is the source of a wisdom that seems to blossom in the hearts as we mature and learn more about life.

In her own remarkable way, a mothers anchors us in our lives and gives us our truest sense of self. Her heart holds a range of emotions that can only grow through a lifetime of caring; the deepest love, the strongest devotion, an occasional frustration and disappointment. Above all, there is within her a profound understanding and acceptance of who we are. She believes we can achieve any dream; she will forgive us almost anything. For all she does, she never asks for anything in return (though sometimes she receives a hug or a dandelion bouquet). But the best way to thank her is just to say... I LOVE YOU MOM.

Past Present and Future

I have been left to think of things past, present and future.

Although I cannot change the past, I can work in the present so that it is not repeated in the future.

I can be humble enough in the present to admit that I have seriously injured people in the past, so that hopefully they can forgive me in the future.

I can forget the past mistakes of others against me and love them both in the present and future.

I can look to the future and pray that the present I am in today is not the past of tomorrow I will regret.

Where is Happiness

Where do we look for happinness?

Nobody will deny that happiness is the most desirable state of being. Happiness is not something which simply happens. Happiness is a state of consciousness that does not depend upon the physical appetites and passions.

Unsatisfied desire is the main cause of happiness. Get rid of your desire, and you will be free from your unhappiness.

Happiness is a mental state which can be attained through the culture of the mind. External sources such as wealth, fame, social position and popularity are but temporary sources of happiness. The real source is the mind. The mind which is controlled and cultured is the real source of happiness. The opinion that mental tranquillity is unattainable is not true. Everyone can cultivate inner peace and tranquillity through the purification of the mind.

By renouncing that which is perishable on earth, one can get the imperishable gift of happiness. HAPPINESS is within YOU.

Ingredients For Happiness

In building a happy, purposeful life, we should exercise our compassion and wisdom, the two wings that can fly man to the summit of human perfection. If we are to develop the emotional aspect neglecting the intellectual, we will become good-hearted fools, while the development of our intellectual side at the neglect of the emotional will make us hard-hearted intellectuals with no feelings for others. Good life is inspired by LOVE and guided by KNOWLEDGE.

What is compassion? compassion is love, charity, kindness and tolerance. It is acting out of love and concern for all that live, especially when they are in unfortunate circumstances.

And what is wisdom? Wisdom is seeing things as they are, and acting out the noble qualities of the mind. When a man sees a beautiful woman and is attracted to her, he wishes to see her again and again. He derives pleasure and satisfaction from her presence. However, when a situation changes and he can no longer see her, he must not act unreasonably and behave foolishly. This unsatisfactory side is a fact of human experience. If he has no unrealistic attachment or selfish clinging to her, he will be relatively free from that suffering. In the pleasures of life, there are pains and sorrows. While there is no denying the happiness that people derive from sense of pleasure, the nature of such pleasure is a brief and does not offer lasting happiness. The realization of this fact is wisdom.

The ingredients for happiness are simple. Happiness is a state of mind. It cannot be found in the material things about us, such as wealth, power or fame. Those who spend a lifetime harvesting and accumulating more wealth than they need will be disillusioned and disappointed when they discover, only too late, that all the money in the world cannot buy a grain of happiness. Happiness comes from within, based on the foundation os simple goodness and clear conscience.

No one is happy unless he is contented with himself. The quest for mental tranquility is only possible through mental culture or meditation. There is so much to do, and so little is done. Only through self analysis and purification will our latent seed of virtues be able to sprout to reveal our divine and human nature. It is not an easy task. It requires perseverance, determination and effort.

If you want to live peacefully and happily, allow others also to live peacefully and happily. Unless and until you adjust yourself to live according to these noble principles you cannot expect happiness and peace in this world. You should expect gratitude from others. Dale Carnegie says, "If we want to find happiness, let us stop thinking about gratitude and ingratitude and give for the inner joy of giving.Ingratitude is natural, like weeds. Gratitude is like a rose. It has to be fed, watered, cultivated, loved and protected.

It is not in man's nature to appreciate anything that comes to him easily. However when these things are taken away then only does he appreciate it. The air we breathe and our vital organs are all taken for granted and we even abuse them, sometimes until it is too late. We should not be like a fish which does now know the value of water until it is taken out of it.

You cannot hope to gain happiness and peace by simply praying. You have to work to gain such blessings. You should not neglect your responsibilities. If you act according to moral principles, you can create your own heaven right here on earth. But when you violate them you can feel the hell fire on this earth itself.

The Search For Happiness

Modern life is a struggle - a struggle to gain monetary rewards, comfort and luxury. Instead of bringing happiness, the lifestyle brings anxieties and stress. There are important moments in everyone's life when all material things are of little value when compared to the mental or spiritual joy of detachment from worldly things.

In living a lay life, the importance of economic welfare for leading a good life cannot be understated. We should not pretend that people can be happy if they are starving and living under miserable conditions. Poverty and living in slum area can stifle human happiness. It is a wretched life in the slums if a large family has to live, eat, sleep and procreate in one small hut. The wretchedness of the environment and the desperate lives of the residents therein can often make such areas a breeding place for vice and bitterness - unless it comprises a community of saints who seek peace in poverty.

However, it is useful to remember that wealth and poverty, happiness and misery are all relative terms. One person maybe rich but unhappy, another maybe poor but happy. Wealth is a blessing if rightly and wisely used. But part of the tragedy of the poor is their selfish desire of material things. If their cravings are not fulfilled, they live with resentment. The tragedy of the rich is their inability to rise above their wealth. They cling to their wealth foolishly. Hence happiness is not found in their case, with the poor or the rich.

Some people think that a good and congenial life partner is a source of happiness. It maybe so to some extent.Other people think that children are another source of happiness. But these are not stable conditions either. A life partner can die or leave them, while some children could bring more sorrow than happiness to their parents.

We should learn to be contented and happy with what little we have which has been bestowed on us. We should even be happy and contented with our present state of human being even though we are not fortunate enough to be blessed with the least of our humble expectations.Remember its always better to have something than nothing at all.

A New Beginning

One of the greatest gift is the chance to be born again each day. Isn't amazing?

Start the day right.
You can look ahead and see where you would like to go.
Focus on the things you would like to do and take it one at the time.

As you go along the way you will find a lot of things that will help you to achieve your dreams.
If your past is not that good... you can leave yesterday behind and start over again today.

Everyday discover something new and imagine about yourself, and remember that happiness and contentment in life come when you focus on your own dreams.
Being yourself, and enjoying every minute of your life.

Appreciate the gifts of laughter and fun in your life, and find contentment knowing that you can always control your ability to look on the bright side.

There has not been a single day since the world begun when the sun was not shining
Be thankful and look to every new day with positive hope.

So begin now, start a new.
Give yourself a new birth today.
Today can be a new beginning, a new thing, a new life.

THE SECRET

One day, a friend asked ME, “How is it that you are always so happy? You have so much energy, and you never seem to get down.”

With MY eyes smiling, I said, “I know THE SECRET.”

“What secret is that?”

To which I replied, “I’ll tell you all about it, but you have to promise to share THE SECRET with others.”

“THE SECRET is this:
I have learned that there is little I can do in my life that will make me truly happy.
I must depend on God to make me happy and meet my needs.
When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God to supply according to his riches.
I have learned most of my time I don’t need half of what I think I do.
He has never let me down.
Since I learned that “SECRET”, I am happy.”

My friend first thought was, “That’s too simple!”
But upon reflecting over her own life she recalled how she thought that be a rich would make her happy, but it didn’t!
She thought a better paying job would make her happy, but it hadn’t.
You know when did she realize her great happiness?
Sitting on the floor with her son, playing games, eating their favorite food, chatting with friends and spending time with family, a simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!
We can depend on the people to make us happy.
Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.
Trust HIM!
And now I pass THE SECRET on to you!
So once you get it, what will you do?

You have to tell someone THE SECRET, too!
But it’s not really a secret…
We just have to believe it and do it.

What LIFE is About

A Long time ago, there was Emperor who was told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding , whipping the horse to go as fast possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much as area as possible. Come to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he ask himself, "Why did I pushed myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love to do. One day when we look back, we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed.

Some people spend their whole life accumulating material things: no amount of accumulation can make them contented. The desire for more and more is their whole life's devotion. When they fail to get what they seek, they become disappointed as before. The object of their dreams appears to be less wonderful, less appealing or desirable than they had earlier considered it to be. By now, their desire and expectations have gone up by a few notches, and they are not satisfied with their new acquisitions. They are constantly egged on by the notion that the 'grass is always greener on the other side of the fence'. People such as thesecan never be happy or contented. In fact, the more they have, the greater their desire becomes. It is said that the man's needs, such as food, shelter and clothing, can be satisfied, but seldom his desires.

Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition. Life is definitely not about work! Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life.

Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal Time. You have to decide how you want to balance your life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts. HAPPINESS is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim of human existence. So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile, Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balance a lifestyle and ENJOY LIFE!
